Fit for a King

Fit for a King

Like a royal robe trimmed in gold,
on display to those passing by,
shimmering clouds,
in folds of purple silk,
are draped across the sky.

As if laid out in anticipation
of welcoming the King,
they billow in the breeze.
They rustle.  They whisper.  They sigh.
 If you listen very carefully,
you can hear their voices sing.

So beautiful. I love your poetry and I love it when you use the sunrise/sunset as a visual aid to accompany it.

Thank you for sharing this. You really lifted my spirits this morning. :)

Such a lovely poem, Daisy. Your photos are perfect and so is the video. Haven't thought of this song in many years. Hope you have a great day.

Daisy, what came first -- the poem or the photos? BOth are lovely.

Jenn, thank you. It's nice to hear this post lifted your spirits. :-)

Thank you, Dorothy. They are such a gift to us, aren't they. And they are different every time you look at them, no matter how many you see. :)

Thanks, Rad! I wish I could feel younger. haha! :-) I think the lighting was just different in this picture. My hair is still the same color as before. It's a little longer in this one, though.

Thank you, Maple Lane. Seeing the sky look the way it did made me think of that song, so I thought I would link to it in the poem. :-)

Thank you, Betsy. The sky really was amazing. I loved all the colors. :-)

Thank you, Becca. Yes, I did take these pictures. The first one is actually a sunrise looking out from my living room window across the street in front of my house. The others are all of a sunset that I took while riding in the car. They were taken looking out across a country road and some fields just outside of the town where I live. :)

Thank you, Cary. Your kind words mean a lot. I rewrote that poem about umpteen times (which means quite a few!) trying to get it just right. I still wasn't completely satisfied with it, but I liked the final version better than what I started with. That's progress, I guess. :-D

Thank you, Kimberly. I used to listen to a lot of music by John Denver, so his songs often pop into my head at odd times. :-)

Susie, thank you so much. I know you know how much time a poem can take. I'm glad you like my work. I really appreciate your kind comment. :-)

Hi Beatrice. Thank you! The photos came first. I often write poems that are inspired by photos or things I see in nature. Sometimes I write about my own photos, and sometimes I write poems about what I see or imagine in the photos of others. :-)

Oh, ok. I thought your hair was a lot lighter. It just looks a lot darker that caught my attention hehe

Nice poem with lovely pictures to go with it.

Just lovely!!

Rad, I took that picture with the webcam on my laptop instead of a regular camera. I think it just came out looking darker because there weren't a lot of lights on in the room. I guess that means I look younger in the dark. hahaha! :-)

Hello Quay Po! Welcome and thank you for commenting here. I'm glad you liked my poem and pictures. :)

Thank you, Ash. :-)

The photos and poem are perfect for the day today. And as it often happens the viewer may have actually taken the art in a different direction than the artist intended. (Or perhaps you did.) All in all, beautiful and a good picture in my mind for today, thank you.

Thanks, LJ, I'm glad you liked the music. :)

Sandy, thank you! :-)

Lanny, however you interpreted it, I'm glad you liked it. Thank you. I hope you have a good day! :)

Thank you very much, Diana. I agree--sunsets and sunrises are magnificent gifts to us. I seem to be always trying to capture and save them in photos. :-)

Wonderful poem too. And you are the princess!

Thank you, Jannie. I am repeatedly amazed at how beautiful the sky is. It continues to surprise me that the same sky in the same spot can look so different not only from day to day but even from minute to minute. :-)
