Because we had several new employees in our midst, the director wanted everyone to stand up and introduce themselves, tell what their job was, and how long they had worked at the library. He added one other fun thing for us to do after our introductions. He said that they had wanted to get all of us t-shirts but that it would have been too expensive for the budget (We have about 45 employees including our main location plus five branches.)
So instead of real t-shirts, they made little cardboard t-shirts with funny sayings on them and pinned them to a string running along one wall. The shirts were pinned so that the funny sayings were facing the wall. After our introductions, we were told to go and take down one of the t-shirts and then read what was on the other side to the group. This is what was written on the t-shirt that I got.
The library director handed out some fun certificate "awards" to us as the next activity. This is the award that I was given.
At the bottom of the certificate, it said this.
We played a couple of games next including one where we had to use a straw to suck up a pea from a bowl, run across the room, and then let the pea drop in a bowl on the other side of the room. We were divided up into teams to do this. The team with the most peas in the bowl at the end of three minutes was declared the winner. It was fun and silly, and we had a good time racing around with our straws and peas.
The motivational speaker was interesting and funny and she did a great job with her presentation. After we ate our lunches, we had the rest of the afternoon off. It was nice to get a little jump on the weekend that way.
We did have sunshine and blue skies over the weekend too.
My son and his girlfriend went out and raked the yard and moved all these leaves down to the street.
I appreciated their hard work. Of course, a few more leaves have come down today, but they will wait until the next time we rake--probably next weekend.

Yes----we rake/blow leaves one day and the next, many more are back. It's just that time of year. Someday though in the near future, they will all be down!!!

Sounds like you had some fun on Friday and how wonderful to get a jump on the weekend. So happy it was a pretty weekend. How kind of your son and his girlfriend to rake the leaves for you. The leaves are off our trees but the neighbor still has many to go. Like Betsy says, it won't be long until all the trees are bare.

Betsy, it won't be much longer till they are all down here. We had some strong winds come through yesterday which knocked quite a few more down! :)

WEll, glad to hear of an inservice day as productive. So often the ones we have at school are a waste of time. The leaves look lovely and it looks like your son and his girlfriend have a LOT more to do :)
Lanny, we did have fun. Sometimes at in-service day we have some kind of training or more workshop type meetings, but this one was aimed more at having us all take a little break and relieving a little stress in the process. :)
Betty, you can roll around in those leaves all you want, although I wouldn't recommend it right now. We had a lot of rain today and those leaves are SOGGY! haha!
Susie, I thought the t-shirt slogan would make a good sign to hang on the wall at the circulation desk--ha! Just kidding, of course. :-)
Tracy, we had a lot more leaves drop today with the heavy rain we had. There are a lot back on the ground again. Our in-service this time did foster good feelings among and between us as we got to let down our guard and just have some fun for a while. :-)

Well, did you get them all up?? Soon there will be icicle pics on your blog. We are under a 3 day storm...already about 2 feet of snow.
Two feet of snow! Yikes! Stay warm, Cassie! Yes, the last of the leaves fell, and we got them raked for the last time over the weekend. Yay! :D
I'm in no hurry for those icicles, not at all! ha!
