This is the road going back to the cabin that we rented.
This is the cabin. It was a nice two bedroom with plenty of space for us.
This is the kitchen and living area of the cabin.
I loved the view from the picture window in the living room. It was a very peaceful and secluded place.
Out back was a deck with a hot tub and a grill.
The hot tub was a great way to relax after going on the hiking trails.
Some people climbed up and were hiking along the ridge of the cliff above the waterfall. They look like little ants in this shot.
I zoomed in so you can see them better in this shot. I couldn't watch them for long. They made me nervous up there. I was afraid they were going to fall over the edge.
Do you see that red arrow I drew on this picture? It is pointing to a spot on the rock. Upon getting a closer look, we discovered the "spot" was actually a HUGE spider. My son thought the spider was pretty cool. I, did not!
Next we went on a hiking trail by Old Man's Cave. This is a creek that was along the trail that I thought was pretty.
More sights of the scenes along the trail at Old Man's Cave follow. Click to enlarge any that you'd like to see a clearer view.
That's my younger son and husband on the walkway. My older son was working and wasn't able to get away with us for this trip.
I loved the way the sun filtered down through the greenery above our heads looking out from under the upper ledge of the cave.
This picture was in the visitor's center. It is of the "old man" from Old Man's Cave.
We ate lunch one day in this large open dining room of the lodge at the state park. The food was very good.
This is me holding Max, our dog who traveled with us, my son, and husband at our cabin. It was a fun and relaxing weekend, and it was nice to get away for a few days.

What lovely getaway pictures, Daisy. The cabin is cute as can be and I'll bet Max had a good time smelling new smells! So happy you enjoyed your time together.
How neat Daisy.... I have heard so much about Hocking Hills --and it looks like a perfect place for a getaway... Those kinds of areas are our favorite places to go... Great pictures ---and glad you all had a good weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy
I've never been there, but your photos sure make me want to.
Neat spider? I don't think so!!
Your cabin looks so...relaxing too.
Isn't it amazing the beautiful earth God has created for us to enjoy?
How lovely to get away for a few days. You all seem to be having a great time.
What a neat trip! That's a real view out the picture window! Glad you got to make this trip!
Beautiful scenery. I love that view from the living room window and the waterfall! Glad you had a great vacation.
What a nice get-away Daisy. Love the cabin and nice that you had a hot tub. Woo-hoo. Looks like so much fun and getting into nature is so relaxing. I've got to do that soon and get up to the mountains in north Alabama.
What a beautiful place with such nice accomodations! My sympathy for the son who could not go! How he missed the fun!
Looks very peaceful. Glad you had a good time, D.
Gorgeous pictures! Found you through Becky's blog. Have a super week! :O)
Beautiful pictures! sounds like you had a great weekend!
Mldred, Max loved it! He got to smell all sorts of things he never smells at home! :-D
Betsy, I had been to Hocking Hills once before, a long time ago when I was still a child. I'm glad that I got to visit there again. It is quite beautiful. If you ever get the chance to go there, I'm sure you and George would love it.
Kimberly, that spider was really creepy. I didn't want to even come near it! Ha! :D
Lynne, it was nice to see some sights and get out of town for a little while. :)
Dorothy, I loved the view out that window! It was very green and serene. :-)
Karen, it was so pretty there. I kept thinking, that it is probably a beautiful place to visit in the fall, too, when the leaves are all changing colors. :)
Becca, I hope you do get to take a trip soon. It can be quite rejuvenating. The jets in that hot tub were very relaxing to my tired muscles. Made me wish I had a hot tub of my own at home! :D
Debbie, I really wanted my older son to be there too. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to take the time off from work to join us. I'm sure he would have loved it. I missed having him there with us. :)
Thank you, Cary. It was very quiet and peaceful. It's nice to slow down and have some time to clear your head every once in a while. :-)
Diane, hello and welcome! Thank you for visiting and taking the time to comment here. I hope you have a great week too! :)
Susan, getting out and enjoying nature almost always does my soul good. We had perfect weather (It was before all this heat set in.), and the scenery lived up to all that we had heard about it. :-D
looks fab,Daisy - apart from the spider. You seem to be hijacking my blog, lol
David, that spider didn't do a thing for me, but he did make my son smile, so it was worth getting to see it for that reason. :-)
I am hijacking your blog? I wasn't aware of that! ha!
Daisy, nice to get away and then be share your adventures with all of us. Glad the spider stayed there. The cabin oooked very restful and the view was wonderful.
Beatrice, I am glad that spider stayed there too. I tried to look him up and see what kind he is. I thought maybe he was a Wolf spider, but I wasn't sure. He definitely was bigger in size than I care to see!
I loved the cabin. In addition to the kitchen and living area, it had two really nice bedrooms and a bathroom plus a game room which was a neat extra, I thought. :-)
What a beautiful place! Looks like you had a great time. Love all the photos but I must admit that spider did freak me out a little. He can just stay right there!! LOL :)
Mountain Mama, my son went for a run on one of the trails by himself while we were there. When he came back he told me about a snake that he had seen. I was just fine with the fact that I had missed seeing the snake. HA! The spider was bad enough. :-D
It is so nice to get away and to have a relaxing time with your loved ones. So glad you got to do that. What a beautiful place! I could roam around there for hours!
The time away looks very good on you! But then you always look good.
Kathleen, I think I would have liked to spend more time there too, but it is probably best that we didn't since this heat wave has settled in. It is quite beautiful there. :)
Aw, thanks, Lanny. It was nice to have a chance to relax for a couple of days. :-)
Oh, Max looks liek a fun travel companion. In 1996 I remember Jim and I took our "first-born" Chance, the cock-apoo in the car with us to Colorado. He was SUCH an awesome dog!!!
What an absolutely GORGEOUS place, that Hockington. Beautiful post.
Love the view from your room window. How special! Like YOU!!
xoxo
Thank you, Jannie. :-)
It was fun to bring Max along. He had a great time exploring with us.
ahhh, love Hocking Hills! I hope it was cool there for you?
and I'm with you; I DO NOT LIKE SPIDERS; of any kind, size, shape or color; UGH!
Tracy, it was surprisingly cool there. We had great weather the whole time we were there. We picked a good weekend to go. :)
Oh yeah! Deck settin' and hot tubbin' are my favorite vacation "sports".
Diana, I'm not a very athletic person, but those are two "sports" I can handle. :D
What a fantastic weekend break hiking. I can't wait for my kids to become a little older so I can spend time with them doing stuff like this Daisy. I don't fancy running into giant spiders though!!
Ryan, those few years will go by quickly and your boys will be old enough to go hiking with you before you know it. :D
