Morning Moment
Outside in the treetops, the blackbirds chatter--
clacking and clicking like stones striking stones.
Leaf-filtered sunlight slips through the curtains,
dancing on my eyelids-- in flickering tones.
I'm tempted to rise, but resist.
My bare shoulders are cold.
I pull up the covers and snuggle back under.
I'm saving this moment
to remember when I'm old.

Lovely poem, Daisy. It's not quite 6 am here this morning and the birds are really chirping!
Hope you have a nice day.
Thank you, Mildred. The birds know best how to greet the day, I think. :)
I hope you have a good day too!
I really like this short poem, Daisy! That sounds like my morning! A Whip-poor-will woke me up this morning!
Loved this, Daisy! Especially that last line!
Love this! Exactly how I feel on cold mornings!
I love the poem...and exactly how I feel on winter mornings but now there is so much to do and so much I want to accomplish so it's worth touching those toes to the ground!
Thank you. This is how I felt just a couple of days ago. I wanted to capture it in words somehow. It was early morning, no one else was awake yet, but the birds and sunlight woke me up. It was just a short moment in time, but it left me with a very peaceful, cozy, safe feeling.
I was just savoring an afternoon nap momment.
I love that poem!
Good for you, Lanny. I'm glad you were able to get some rest. :-) Those moments are definitely worth savoring. They are something I'm grateful for. I think we are happiest when we can live in the moment like that.
Thank you, Paige. :-)
Nice poem. Getting colder now?
Hi Bananaz. Thank you. We have had several cooler days in a row now, but actually these temperatures we have now are more like normal ones for spring here. (Early morning temperatures about 50 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit). We had a few very hot days last week, but they were unseasonably warm for the time of year.
I hear you, I'm one of those "just another 5 minutes under the covers" kinda guy lol. Lovely poem.
Thank you, Ryan. Some days are just better if you can ease into them instead of hitting the ground running. :)
Nice! I, too, find the last line captivating.
Thank you, Diana. It was one of those small moments where time seems to stand still for a little bit and you notice every detail around you and want to be able to remember it all and go back to it.
Beautiful, Daisy! I hope you will always remember that moment indeed. I love leaf light outside windows.
xoxo
