I went for an early morning walk today before time for church. It was warm and humid, but at least it wasn't raining. I saw several bunnies. Must be a good year for them because I have been seeing them everywhere lately.
There is a lot of mud everywhere and standing water in a lot of places still. I saw some irises in the park. These yellow ones weren't doing too badly, but the purple ones all had their heads beaten down by the rain. The colors were pretty, at least.
This brick pathway had standing water over the whole length of it.
No kids were playing on the playground. A moat of water was around the equipment, and no drawbridges were lowered where a crossing could be made.
The weeds have taken over the ground under the big trees in the park. It has just been too wet for the parks department workers to get the mowers in there to mow. Quite a few spots have big puddles of standing water.
They did mow this one section of the park, but you can see the ruts left behind by the mower tires. They must have given up after this.
I walked past quite a large area of honeysuckle growing along the road. The blossoms looked delicate and lacy and smelled heavenly.
I walked by the buzzard tree and, out of habit, looked up to see if they were there. Not only were they there, but they were doing something I've never seen them do before. They were perched in the top branches of the tree as usual, but they had their wings spread out as if they were sunning themselves--either trying to warm or perhaps dry out their wings. It seemed quite odd to see them doing that.
On the way home, I saw these beautiful irises growing next to someone's house.
At another house, I saw these decorations in the flower beds. They looked like stacked up dishes, plates, bowls, cake holders, vases, and such. I'm not sure if that is what they were, or if they were just yard ornaments made to look like stacked dishes. The bright colors and sparkling glass did make for pretty garden decorations.
The rains returned this afternoon. We had high winds and storms with lightning and thunder and a tornado warning for our county. We hid out in the basement and waited for the storm to pass us. There was quite a bit of wind damage in other parts, but not much in our town except for one very large tree that was knocked down and damaged in the park. I went for a second walk through the park tonight and saw the damaged tree then. I didn't have the camera with me, that trip, though, so I didn't get a picture of the downed tree.
We've had enough rain for a while now. I'm ready for a few sunny days to take their place. Oh no! Don't let the Rain Come Down...

Here's hoping sunny days are heading both our ways...mind you, I have no right to complain, I haven't been hiding in my basement fearing high winds and/or tornados.
I'm thankful you were safe from the storm. I enjoyed your walk in the park and those birds were something else with their wings spread. I think the irises are so pretty. I hope the rain did not damage your daisies.
Thank you, Sandra! We are supposed to have a warm and sunny day today. It will be nice for the holiday. :)
Thank you, Mildred. No, no damage to the daisies or anything else here. There was some wind damage in other counties not too far from here, but the tree down in the park was all I saw here. Enjoy your day! :)
wow, lots of rain and puddles. I sure hope you get some sun and it all dries out soon. we have lots of bunnies too this year.
that is so interesting about the buzzards...
So far, Sandy, this has been a warm and sunny day. 86 degrees right now. That ought to help get things dried out, I hope. :D
It's crazy that it's so wet while other places are declaring a severe drought! Stay safe and watch out for those tornadoes and crazy buzzards!
Great bunny pics, Daisy. It does look nice and rural round your way.
I remember that song!..........I don't sing it around here now........we are still very drought ridden. What a lovely green and cheery place you live in!
Dapoppins, if only we could share and spread things around a bit regarding the weather, we all might have what we need.
Thank you, David. Yes, I live in a small town that is in the middle of a lot of farm country, so it is a rural area. These pictures were taken in a local park and in my neighborhood.
Hello Kathleen. Yes, we have lots of green right now from all the spring rain. We usually have some dry spells in July or August when things get a little brown again, but right now it is pretty lush. I wish I could send some of our rain your way.
Well, Daisy, guess the momma and papa bunnies were busy doing other things while keeping dry this winter....and now that spring is here so is the fruit of their labor!!! LOL
Love the buzzard photo! They used to roost that way on my parents' fence posts years ago, one on each post, wing to wing - very majestic. The purple and white iris is a beauty - we don't see that kind very often.
Wow! I hope your area dries up soon.
Love the bunnies. We had a lot of them in our neighborhood back in Mi too and I was always amazed at how well they've adapted to living in such populated areas. Here we see a lot of them, but mainly at night.
Your pictures are all beautiful - as is the usual!
I passed on an award to you if you'd like to stop by and pick it up.
Have a wonderful day! :)
Diana, I had never before seen the buzzards pose like that with their wings spread and soaking up the sun. I half expected to see little pairs of sunglasses and caps with visors on them. haha! :D
Thank you, Mountain Mama! I am always surprised at how the rabbits adapt too. Quite often I can get very close to them before they hop away. I hope you have a great day too! :-)
I have never seen such beautiful colored iris before. Wow.
I thought they were unusual too, Cassie. They were very striking.
Snow, rain, hail, high winds, I'm with you Daisy it's time for some sunshine...even just a little!!
We are having a nice day today and the weatherman is predicting several more ahead of us. Hurray! I hope good weather is coming your way too, Ryan. :)
Hi Daisy! I see that I'm really behind in reading and commenting. I know what you mean about all the rain and storms...and then finally some beautiful sunshine! And as typical here....we went straight into hot and humid! But I'm not complaining...I swore I wouldn't after all the yucky weather we've had! (Hope I can still say that in a month or two!) :D
We have had several beautiful days in a row here now, Becky, and I am just thrilled with it. I don't mind the heat. I think I am finally thawed out from the winter we had. haha! ;D
I know I'm late in reading this and I'm sure that the evidence of your rain is nearly all gone, but somehow I feel your pain of rain.
Lanny, I'm sure you, more so than any of my other readers, know this feeling! And yes, we no longer have water standing like we did. We've had several hot, sunny days that dried the puddles up.
