Magnolia Tree

MAGNOLIA TREE

From across the street it looks as if
a flock of pink parrots
have taken over the limbs.

A closer look reveals branches full of buds
like the points of pink lipsticks
twisted to the rims.

Some of the buds have opened
swirled among the tree's twigs
like cotton candy on a paper cone,

sweet proof that with faith and patience
good things will come...
 if good seeds you've sown.

One of my very favorite Spring blooming trees. I love your descriptive words of the blooms. Looks like a pretty day in your area. Just north of us is being pounded by tornados tonight.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your week. Can't wait for you to share more Spring blooms.

Good morning, Mildred. We had strong winds and rain overnight here last night too, but no tornadoes. This spring has been a fierce one with the weather lately. Yes, I am looking forward to the blooming of the crabapple and redbud trees and also the lilacs. :D

Lovely poem, Daisy! I love each day of spring, when something new is in bloom everywhere we look. The magnolia blossoms seemed to come out of nowhere this year, and don't they smell nice?

Daisy said...

Thank you, Diana! Yes, I've noticed several magnolias now in bloom just in the last couple of days. :D

I am coming over to dance and sing under this tree! Want to eat some cake with me when I am done?

Daisy said...

Thank you, Susie! Yes,it is. Just a whiff of it on the breeze is heavenly! :-)

Betty, not only do I want to eat cake with you, but I want to sing and dance with you too! I don't think the neighbors will mind much... :D

We don't have these trees in our area, and how I wish we did. I would cover every area of our farm with them! Loved your words with this! blessings,Kathleen

Thank you, Kathleen. They are beautiful trees. Unfortunately, they don't stay in bloom very long. All the more reason to enjoy them while we can! :D

Such pretty trees. But Mike had to comment about the mess the petals made when they fell here!

Daisy said...

Lynne, I even like that because it makes a pink carpet under the tree for a little while. :-)

Lovely blooms and poetry, Daisy. There are several white magnolias in our neighborhood, but none are in bloom. So nice to see this one. Enjoy the upcoming weekend.

Hi Daisy, That tree is gorgeous --and your words are perfect. Thanks so much...

Let's pray for all who lost so much due to the Tornadoes on Wednesday. We were some of the lucky ones.

Hugs,
Betsy

Thank you, Betsy. Yes, those affected by the tornadoes have been in my prayers. Those terrible storms are the ugly side of spring, I'm afraid.
