"When Did He Grow To Be So Tall?"

My husband and older son flew to Florida last week because my son had applied at Palm Beach Atlantic University there and had an interview scheduled with them.  I had to work at the library and my younger son had school, so we stayed at home with the pets.  The interview went very well, and they let him know the next day that he had been accepted.  He was (and still is) quite excited and happy.

I thought I'd share some of the pictures they took while they were down there.  I left the pictures in the smaller size so as not to overwhelm anyone's browser, but you can click on any to enlarge them if you wish.  Of course, while they were there, they spent a little time on the beach and saw a few sights.

They wanted me to see what the temperatures were there.

Thumbs up!  The interview went well.  Time for a break.

A silly pose for the camera--I have no idea where he gets that from!

Oh yeah, now I remember where he gets that from.

This is me, the smiling and very proud mom, of course.  My son has worked very hard to be where he is.  He has been carrying a double major in psychology and sociology and going to school year around so that he will graduate this summer after three years in college instead of stretching it to four as most do.  After graduate school, he would like to be a counselor at the college level and help kids who have problems with substance abuse.

I am very happy for him and very proud of him.  I am also worried and a little nervous about him being so far away from home to go to school, and I will readily admit I am rather sad about him being so far away also.  However, time marches on, doesn't it, no matter how much I sometimes wish I could make it stand still.

Congrats to your son! The photos are great and I am envious of the spectacular weather and scenery. You and your husband should be very proud but I know this step will be a big change for all of you. God bless you all.

Daisy, so happy for your son! I know you are happy and proud of him. He must have worked very hard and will work hard still. I must say he has a very pretty place to study (that I should be so lucky)I can see you taking some very well needed time to visit him. AND I guess you'll have to go to the beach. After all, you wouldn't want to hurt his feelings! :D
Great stuff!

Thank you, Mildred. We are very proud of him, and it is a beautiful place for him to go to graduate school. :-)

Hi Debbie! I love the beach and haven't been there in quite a while. I hope we will get a chance to visit him. We will probably take a trip down there this summer at least to help him get moved in there. :-)

Daisy, congrats to your son and family as you are all proud and happy. Acceptance into college on any level can be stressful. And looking on the bright side, your son will be in FL, a nice warm location and a perfect place to visit during winter!

What a wonderful achievement for your son! I know how difficult it will be to have your son far away. So hard to let them go and fly away, isn't it? And yet, that's our job....

Daisy I am as thrilled for him as I can be. Being in the south and so close to the beach will be awesome for him. He is just going to love it down there. Wait till he comes home with that dark tan. I know you HAVE to go down to visit him. You have every right to be that boys proud mama Daisy. Hope you're having a good day.

Beatrice, thank you. Yes, he worked hard to get into this school, and he's quite excited about going. :)

Thank you, Betty. Yes, it is our job to watch them go, isn't it. Doesn't make it any easier to do, though. :)

Thank you, Becca. He LOVES it down there and is really looking forward to it. I hope we will be able to visit him, although it will be too expensive for us to go very often. We will probably help him get moved in right at first, at least. :)

I definitely needed to see those beach photos - what a great place to study! It seems like he was just starting college - good for him for working hard and finishing in three years instead of four.

Diana, I'd love to spend some time at that beach--it looks peaceful, doesn't it. Yes, it does seem like he was just starting college. Time goes by so quickly.

That is terrific!! Guess it wouldn't be too much of a hardship to go visit him!!
Have a great day Daisy!

Awesome!
So, you will just have to go to the beach to see him; nothing wrong with that.

Oh, for time to stand still indeed. But it does march on, hopefully to even more wonderful days than we already know.

WONDERFUL pictures and post. I'm sure he'll be accepted no prob.

And I like you so much, I made you an all-new sidebar button, up top.

These are lovely photos and I enjoyed the trip to Florida with your son.

Brenda and Jen, there are much worse places he could be! Yes, it will be a wonderful place to visit. :)

Jannie, thank you! You are such a sweet soul. :D

Brenda Kay, thank you! He's doing well so far. I'm proud that he has stuck with it. I hope the beach doesn't distract him too much from what he will need to be doing. :-)

Thanks, Sandy! :D

You must be so proud of your son Daisy, yes I know it will be hard to see him travel so far away from you but with technology these day, you will still see and hear from him everyday. Congrats.

Daisy said...

Thank you, Ryan. I think I'm going to need to learn how to use Skype. :) Of course, we will have email and cell phones and such too.

my son is 12 going on...10, I've been praying that God would give him some desires beyond the next new video game he wants to buy! I hope he turns out like yours, determined and with such a great work ethic...

And I loved those summerish Florida photos!

Daisy said...

Hi Dapoppins! Thank you. Twelve is still very young in the overall scheme of things. Be patient with him. I'm sure he will find his niche. He's still nine years away from my son's age. You'll be surprised how much he changes in that time, I bet! :)

You should be proud, how awesome! Congrats on raising (rearing) such a remarkable young man.
And after seeing these gorgeous photos? Don't worry about him being so far away, just follow him to the sunshine! Boys love having their Moms come live with them when they're going to college ;-)

Lanny said...

What a beautiful place to be far away in though!

Daisy said...

HA HA HA! J, I'm not so sure he will want me to move in with him. Although, I did tell him to find a place to stay that was big enough for his whole family to come and stay with him. I would love to follow him to the sunshine if I could. :)

Lanny, it is lovely, isn't it. :)
