Then I read on JL Dodge's blog about a poetry challenge. I decided I would attempt her poetry challenge and write a poem about that piece of pie. She challenged her readers to write a monotetra. You can read about what that is on her blog, JL Dodge Writes. I don't know if I did this right, but this is my feeble attempt.
I know, I know. I cheated on the first line by adding an "s" to the word "call" which makes the rhyme not quite right at the end. I'm also not sure I followed all the rules that were set forth in the challenge, but oh well, what's a broken rule here and there when it comes to poetry, right?
I actually didn't follow all the rules when making the pie, either, come to think of it. I put more chocolate on top than what the recipe called for because I had extra chocolate to use up and, well, because I could. Those seemed like good enough reasons to me. I mean, can you have too much chocolate? The boys didn't seem to mind.
So below is the picture and the poem. If you'd like to try your hand at writing this type of poem and join the challenge, go visit JL Dodge's blog at the link I gave you earlier to see her example, which is MUCH better than mine, by the way.
Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie
Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie calls.
Total Sweetness! Diet downfall.
Willpower gone. I've hit a wall.
Whipped cream and all. Whipped cream and all.

OH Daisy, For a peanut butter lover like me, my mouth is watering just thinking about that pie. YUM.....
Cute poem too... YES--the willpower goes out the window when a piece of pie like that is in front of me... ha
Hugs,
Betsy
Daisy, You know my weakness for chocolate and peanut butter! This looks wonderful and the poem (as always) is cute as can be. Wishing you a very nice weekend and perhaps a walk in the park!
It looks DELICIOUS and i like the poem too. I also just came from a blog where someone, Shashi, baked a chocolate cake..Now I'm hungry.
Sounds good to me Daisy!
The cake, I like! hehehehe
Hahaha rules are there to be broken right? Especially when it comes to lashings of chocolate. As for the poetry, I feel I embarass myself enough without inflicting my terrible poems on your readers.
Daisy, I know absolutely nothing about writing poetry, but I can tell you that pie writes its own poem. I love yours though. I can understand it! Yum yum!
Betsy, some things are just meant to be enjoyed and not resisted, I think. :-)
Mildred, I thought of you and your love of Reese's cups when I was making this pie. :D
Sandy, every time I look at this picture, I get hungry again. HA! :)
Hi Netster! I'm a fan of most things sweet to eat. I know they aren't very healthy foods, but a treat now and again is OK, I think. :D
Ryan, chocolate is good for your heart, right? Your limericks make me laugh. That's always a good thing too. :-)
Debbie, I'm glad you liked it. Thank you! I look at poems as just another way to communicate. So, to me, if the person reading the poem doesn't understand it, then the poem isn't communicating very well. The rhythm and rhymes and imagery and so forth all wrap it up into a nice neat package, but the communication is the most important element to me. :-)
Oh I can relate to your poem Daisy. Willpower gone... It looks so yummy. I'm going now to check this recipe. Good job on the poem.
I know that someday the beautiful Recipe Fairy will sweep into my kitchen and bestow upon me a most fantastic prize, it will be the day I actually just simple follow a recipe as written. And that pretty much sums up the entirety of my life in and out of the kitchen, so I say, cheat away, it makes me feel less lonely!
So what if the rules were not followed, it still looks yummy.
Oh, yum! What's not to love!
Thanks, Becca. My boys gave it a thumbs up. :D
Lanny, I certainly wouldn't want you to feel lonely! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who does that. Sounds like I'm in good company if you fiddle with recipes too. :-)
Thanks, Haddock and Rebecca! It WAS good! :D
Hope you all have a good weekend!
Daisy !
You out did yourself !!
The poems rule may have been broken in the first line, but the rest is abolutly perfect, just like that scrumptious PIE !!!
Love that you do our prompts !!
YOU ROCK !!

My goodness I want a piece of that pie!!! And no you can never have too much chocolate and yes that is one sweet poem... Get it SWEET...
I tried, lol...
ps... you look pretty snazzy as a blond....
HA! Thanks, Lady Jane. :D You are sweet too.
My time as a blond will be short-lived--just playing around with a photo editing site and having some fun with my avatar. ;)
Oh sweet it is!
Great job Daisy.
Thanks, Jen! Have a nice Sunday. :D
Yum yum. Your family is lucky that you are such a devoted homemaker! I'm going to check out that recipe myself. I'm the peanut butter lover in this house and Patrick is my chocolate bear. Now I have to do a lot of catching up on your blogs. Have a great weekend and week to follow dear Daisy!
ps-Love your new fairy-look on the profile pic. You're too cute!!
That pie looks delicious. I'm off to check out the recipe.

Marydon
Hi Marydon! Peanut butter and chocolate together is the favorite of a lot of people, I think. :D
The pictures are just a little fun I've been having with a photo editing site. The face is mine, the rest belong to someone else! I'm like a little girl playing dress up. :-) Enjoy your week!
Daisy, first one can NEVER have enough chocolate (just ask Grenville) and the same goes for peanut butter (just ask me). I'm going to give this recipe a try soon. Are you sure this isn't on any diet plan, after all isn't chocolate a food group? ps. love the fun you are having with the face pics.
Beatrice, if I were the one naming food groups, chocolate would definitely have a group all to itself! ;D I hope you like the recipe. I'm glad you like my silly face pictures too. I'm so easily amused.
We call it the brown group at our house, and it's a must!
That makes perfect sense to me, Diana! I like the way you think. :-D
