This is the sunrise view at the library as I arrive early in the morning. I work in that building on the left.
Do you remember a couple of weeks ago I told you about my computer and printer woes at the library? My hard drive crashed and my printer refused to recognize the toner cartridge. The computer guy ordered the hard drive for the computer and two new printers for me, and they were delivered, but he then had some unexpected surgery which kept him away from the library for about a week. Since almost all of the work I do at the library involves the computer in some way, I was stuck unable to do what I needed to do for my job. So I filled my time with boring, busy work which made for some very long days.
This week, the technology guy was back to work part-time. While here he realized that it was going to take longer to get my computer and new printers up and running than he first anticipated. So he moved my files from my office computer to one of the computers in the library computer lab so that I could work from there. So this is where I have been spending my work time lately.
I feel a little odd working in here, as if I am some sort of misplaced refugee. I often have to walk down and back this long hallway to my office to retrieve something I need in order to get my work done.
There is more to the odd feeling than that, though. I feel as if I am being pulled back and forth from one side to the other in a bizarre power struggle. It is as if there is some kind of weird disturbance in the universe or even in the very air around me.
Perhaps it has something to do with this fellow watching me from the wall on my right...
and this fellow watching me from the wall on my left.
No wonder I feel pulled in two directions!
May the force be with you this weekend, and if you are feeling a little off-balance, perhaps you should try reading a book.

Oh goodness, I don't like being displaced. I was today because when I went back to school, since it was just a workday I didn't work in my room so I wouldn't distract the kids and gosh, I never had what I needed, when I needed it...I did not feel very productive.
So did they get it up and going yet? UGH!
No, not yet, Tracy. The computer guy was supposed to work on it again today, but he didn't come in, so I guess it will be sometime next week (at least I hope!) before I'm back in my office. Oh well. A day at a time. :)
Hi Daisy, I'm sorry to read about your 'woes'.... I too would feel discombobulated --if I were in your situation... Hope they fix it for you SOON.
Hugs,
Betsy
Hi Daisy,
I've been away from blogging for a while and so I have just learned of your mother's passing, and would like to pass on my condolences.
You seem to have been having a very hard winter, all those icicles!
I hope that your son is feeling better today, and that you all have a good weekend.
Best wishes, Lynne x
Sweet friend, I think the problem is called "change". :D We get so used to doing things a certain way and when someone rearrages our daily maze our brains rebel. I can't imagine you sitting among the library patrons doing your work. I visit my library very often and I've seen some characters in there that made your poster people look preeeety normal!
May the force be with your computer repair man.....and soon!
Daisy, just catching up on blog reading and envious of your library - so large and so many rooms. If and when I post some photos of the local library where I volunteer you will see "why" I am jealous, but we are geting a new one....in a few years. And, yes, have just started a good book - Maeve Binchey's latest!
BTW I really enjoyed the clip with DOnald O'Connor dancing on your previous post - love those old musicals so much!
Hope you son is doing better too and paperwork can get you bogged down sometimes - hope all works out OK.
Thanks, Betsy. I'm doing fine. I'm just inconvenienced for the time being. :)
Thank you, Lynne. This winter has been a long one. Thank goodness spring is almost here. It's good to see you back here! :-)
Debbie, you are probably right about me not liking change. I'm more comfortable in my own space, I think. This computer lab I'm working from isn't the same one that is open to the public all the time. The one I'm working from is one we use as a classroom to teach computer classes. It is only used occasionally by reservation. So far I've always been in there working by myself. Yes, if I were working at the bank of computers that the public uses, I'm not sure I'd be able to get anything done at all! :-)
Hi Beatrice. Thank you! :-) My son is doing fine now. He is back to his old self. I'll conquer the paperwork eventually. I just need to keep at it.
Yes, we are very lucky to have the library that we do. Ours is the larger Main library in our county, but we also have five much smaller branch libraries in some of the neighboring towns that I do the PR work for too. I imagine your library is probably more like one of our branches.
I'm glad you liked the dancing video! I love those old musicals too. I sometimes think I was born in the wrong era. HA! :D
Very funny. You know you'll miss them when your gone.
HA HA HA! Yes! Lanny, I'm sure you're right. I probably will miss them. :D
I hope The Force Be with you too...I am a new reader from Finland. I had to read your oldest posts too - to get idea - what kind of winter you have had...There is snow almost just as much than in Finland....
My condolences because of your mom. I hope you feel little bit better now...
I love singing and suddenly I remembered the song Close to you by Carpenters. I want to sing that to you.
"Why do birds suddenly appear,
Everytime you are near?
Just like me, they long to be, Close to you.
Why do stars fall down from the sky, Everytime you walk by, Just like me, they long to be, Close to you......"
Gone to the Beach, hello and welcome! Nice to meet you. Thank you for visiting and commenting here. I like that song. :) Thank you for singing it to me.
I love the Yoda poster. :-)
Hi Michelle! I love that one too. Our director really likes the READ posters, and we have them hanging all over the building. The Yoda one is one of my favorites. We have a Dr. Seuss one that I really like too. :)
hahaha, kind of a coincidence, I felt a disturbance in the force today ....oddly enough whenever trouble rears it's head I've been saying to myself there is a disturbance in the force...I remember hearing the phrase years ago but it surfaced in my head awhile back. I kind of like it..ha. Hope that computer gets fixed quick for you.
HA HA! Thanks, Sandy! Let's hope we both get pulled to the light side instead of the dark! :D
ha, ha, great twist at the end, Daisy!
You'll never be a refugee in my eyes!!
xoxo
Jannie, I'm glad you liked the ending. That was my attempt to inject a bit of humor into the situation. HA! :D
