And So On It Goes
Every week, it's the same.
He must watch the game.
She sighs, shakes her head.
She finds football so lame.
He settles in with some snacks,
entrenched in the couch.
The TV drones on.
He begins to slouch.
.
She has left the room.
The game is SO boring,
not worthy of watching,
only ignoring.
He stretches out on the pillows,
and drifts away snoring.
He never even knows
how it goes with the scoring.
And so on, and so on, and so on it goes.

Ha! My husband falls asleep during a game he's been looking forward to, and I think that'll happen with the Jets/Steelers that's just began! BUT, I like football too, and I'm right there yelling and cheering!! :)
:) that made me smile...typically it is my son and me who park it in front of the TV to watch football. My husband is a soccer fan!
Becky, isn't that the way of it--my husband quite often looks forward to seeing a game and then ends up sleeping through it. I think he just looks forward to taking a nap! HA HA! :D
Tracy, I'm glad this made you smile. I'm not much of a sports fan of any kind, but I am definitely in the minority here in my family. HA! To each his or her own. :-)
hahahaaaaaa !
Men and football: Interested or not really interested
Women and football: Love it or hate it
heeeeeee!
Hi Speedy! :-)
You guessed it. I'm not a fan of football. HAHA!
Jeep likes to watch sports on TV, and while watching TV he is usually doing something on the laptop!!!
Dorothy, it's good that Jeep can multi-task like that! :-)
We discontinued tv service and out where we are there is no reception with out satellite. I think I almost miss football more than Dirt. Though I could do with out the pre game yammering, those fellas can talk endlessly about nothin.
Hi Daisy, Well--our family is backwards!!!! I'm the one who loves football.. George will watch it --but is always doing something else at the same time.... I've always loved sports ... Got that from my Daddy.
Hugs,
Betsy
Hi Daisy, been great catching up with you.
It tends to be me falling asleep in tront of the telly sometimes!
Lanny, I watch so little on TV anymore, I don't think I'd miss it if we got rid of it. I am more likely to use it to watch a movie on DVD than to watch a TV program these days. I agree with you about the pre-game chatter (post-game too, for that matter). They seem to talk forever about nothing. :)
Betsy, if you love it, then more power to you. I just never got into watching it, and I doubt that I'll start now. I know lots of folks who are fans, though. :-)
Hi Lynne! Well, if I were sitting there watching football, I'd probably fall asleep too. HA! I don't watch it when it is on, though. I am usually doing something else when sports are on at my house. :-)
I think I might have deleted my comment.....I had accused you of being in our living room yesterday observing John!!!!!!!!
HA HA! No, I wasn't there. I'm glad to hear my house isn't the only one like that, Mildred. :-D You don't dare turn off the TV when they fall asleep watching something either, because that makes them wake up and say, "Hey, I was watching that!"
Speedy is right.
and
I hate it.
(cept I will do some Super Bowl) ha.
Cute poem Daisy!
Thanks, Jen! At least with the Super Bowl you can watch the sometimes better than ordinary commercials and the snacks are better. :D
How funny. I don't understand football and don't want to and don't need to but still serve snacks to all of the ones that come to our house to watch and have fun with all that stuff!!! LOL
Carol,it sounds to me like you can keep a positive outlook and make the best of the situation. Perhaps making a party out of it makes it more fun. :-)
Oh, cute new little gravatar, Daisy! May I please butt my nose in and suggest you sign up at gravatar.com with that photo so it'll appear in my blog alongside your comments?! It's free!
But enough of my buttinski business!
I'm so lucky my hubby watches no sports. But he does often fall asleep during the news! Then asks me to tell him what's up in the world. :)
fun poem!
xxoo
Thank you, Jannie. I wondered how to make a picture show up on your blog. I'll have to give that a try. Your husband is lucky to have you to keep him up-to-date on current events. :D
I love to sit cozily beside Larry while he's watching football. I can knit a few inches during a game! Then I can watch the replay of an outstanding part of the game. Sportscasters love their replays!
Diana, that is true about the replays. If there is a particularly outstanding play, you can be sure that it will be shown again in the replay in case you missed it the first time around. Knitting sounds like a good way to spend your time while a game is on. :-)
fun poem..cute...
Thank you, Sandy. :-)
