A Duet in Church

My son has been doing well with his music.  The string quintet he is in performed at a birthday party at the local country club for an 80-year-old's birthday recently and also at a local fundraising event.  They are booked in the near future for a wedding and three different Christmas events. (One of the Christmas events happens to be at our local library.  I can't imagine how the group managed to get booked there!  *Looking at the sky, and whistling innocently*)  He is also keeping busy with the Toledo Youth Symphony, and his high school orchestra too.

I wanted to share with you this video of a duet he did with his girlfriend at her church with him on the upright bass (also called the double bass) and her on her violin.  It is called, "Concertante."  I missed the very beginning because the usher came around with the collection plate right at that moment, and I had to fumble in my purse for an offering instead of have the camera running.  Oops!  Ha ha ha!

Thank you, Betsy. I am proud of him. Both of them, actually. I appreciate my blog friends allowing me to brag on them a bit. :-)

That was so lovely. Thank you for posting. Like Betsy said, they are both very talented. And how wonderful that he and his quartet are getting booked so often. :)

Also, I must admit, I am always thrilled to see youngstas playing and appreciating classical music, which is such a huge part of my life and becoming far too obscure. It warms my heart, it does.

Thank you, Melissa. He hopes to have a career in music both in performing and perhaps teaching, so I try to encourage him as much as I can. He wants to pursue a degree in music when he gets to college. That is still a couple of years away, so he could change his mind by then, but right now he seems pretty sure about it.

Hi Becca! HA! Inquiring minds want to know. :D

Thank you, Sandy. I always feel like I'm moving the camera around too much and fumbling with it when I try to make a video. I think it's a good thing I don't have to make videos for a living. :)
