I found a few spots of color around town and in the park to share with you. These pictures were taken two or three days ago. Since that time many more trees have started to change.
I liked the way these dark branches and tree trunks stood out against the yellows and oranges of the leaves behind them.
This is a row of trees along the edge of the soccer fields in various stages of changing to red.
A few evenings ago, I noticed they were cutting down some of the trees where the buzzards like to roost. I imagine it was the buzzards roosting in them that caused the trees to die, at least in part.
I wondered if maybe the buzzards had already gone farther south, but then saw dozens of them roosting in the pine trees as you can see by my pictures if you look closely. The next night after taking the pictures below, I saw a group of them circling and swooping over a very large area of the park. There must have been 100 of them, at least, all together there in the sky. It was really amazing to see. They may have been gathering together then to start their journey south, but I don't know for sure. The pictures below show just a mere handful in the sky and trees compared to the number I saw in the sky that next night. I made the photos of the treetops a bigger size to make it easier for you to see the buzzards.
Finally, I wanted to give you a quick update on our playground that was burned. As I have seen so many times from the people in our little town, we are taking lemons and making lemonade. This past week, a construction company came in and tore down and removed all the charred remains of the part of the structure that was burned. The company donated every bit of their time and labor to the city to take down what was left of the destroyed part and then to spread new mulch down on the ground below.
Today the part that remains was re-opened so the children of our town could return here to play. Plans are in the works not only to rebuild the part that was destroyed in the fire, but to add on and make the playground even larger. They are also including plans to make the new parts built more accessible to the handicapped. A prayer service and re-dedication ceremony was held this afternoon to mark the re-opening of what remains until building can begin next spring to add on and make it bigger and better.

Your weather is gorgeous Daisy. I know you are especially enjoying your daily walks with the mild temps and colorful trees. Thank you for giving us the update on the playground. What a shame that it happened but it makes me joyful to hear that folks have donated their time to get it safe to use again and are actually improving and enlarging it. Hope you have a nice afternoon and a good week.
Mildred, yes, it has been as close to perfect as it can be, I think. Not too hot or cold, pretty skies, and pretty trees to look at. I hope you are enjoying your Sunday. :-)
Your fall tree pictures are gorgeous! Glad the children can play in park again!
You have alot of color in your area, Daisy. I can't wait 'til we get more color here also... I have noticed a big change here just this weekend---so I'm getting excited!!!!
Love your pictures --and am glad that your town is working on the burned-out playground. I'm sure the people there will build it all back--as you said, bigger and better. That is GREAT!!!!
Hugs,
Betsy
I'm beginning to think that this is my favourite time of the year, it's so beautiful when the sun shines.
That's good news about the playground. Have they found out whether it was arson or not yet?
Lovely photos of the trees Daisy.
Hi Daisy,
Seeing trough your beautiful pictures... i bet you lived in a beautiful area... So many beautiful and colorful tree around there... and the nice park where the kids could play around..
Especially the sunshines, and the blue sky will make the atmosphere more wonderful...
Thanks for showing us... so that I can contribute here to enjoy its beauty..
hugs,
nensa
Thank you, Dorothy. I'm glad to see the park opened up again too. :-)
Betsy, I can't believe how much the trees have changed here just in the past couple of days. I feel like I could just stand and watch them change right before my eyes, it is happening so quickly. :D
Lynne, the investigation into the fire ended, but unfortunately they couldn't find any conclusive evidence to say it was definitely arson. No one has been arrested, and, as far as I know, they don't have any suspects. Most people here believe that it had to be arson, though, even if they don't have conclusive evidence.
The sunny days we have been having here lately HAVE been gorgeous. :-)
Thank you, Nensa! I'm glad you liked these pictures. The trees are looking so pretty right now here. It's a lovely time of year. :-)
Thanks for sharing some beautiful pics of your trees Daisy. Here, ours are just dying and falling off.
Good to hear about the playground.
Your autumnal colors are supendous! I am a big fan of the dark brances in the color too, I think that is my favorite thing about all the color, those big contrasts! Have a good week!
There's nothing like the colors of the leaves in the fall...beautiful!
Kudos on people trying to get the playground back quickly. :)
And thanks for sharing your colors. It's something I miss, living out here in California.
Hi Susie! We have some like that too, but most of them are changing colors. I think the dry summer we had is what caused that to happen in places.
Hi Lanny! Yes, I think when there are those contrasts it makes the bright colors stand out more. It's sort of like a frame around a picture. :-)
Hi Carol! I hope you are having a good week! :D
Melissa, thank you. There are a lot of good people in this town. They more than make up for the few who aren't. I'm glad you like seeing the leaves. We have a lot more changing now just in the last few days. :-)
Oh how beautiful those colors are, colors which we are not privileged in this part of the world. I haven't seen autumn in person, you might be surprised that many of us don't have this season. Most of my travels abroad are in the spring, i wonder why i haven't seen Autumn. I hope in this lifetime i will still see one!
Andrea, I never thought about being somewhere that doesn't have autumn! I hope you will get to experience one yourself sometime too. :) Thank you for visiting and commenting on my blog today.
I'm listening to your son play while I'm catching up. I'm enjoying it.
So glad to read about the park going to be better than ever. I enjoyed your walk and the colorful trees.
Thank you, Sandy. We have color everywhere now. The leaves are really changing fast!
Your photos do you proud, Daisy! We have such colors here, but I haven't captured them the way you have. Oh, to see 100 buzzards at the same time would be awesome. The most I've seen at once is 17 - I think. They're hard to count!
I think I just got lucky and found some good places to take pictures from. I liked the yellow/orange one that was framed by green trees on both sides. That made the yellow stand out more, I think.
Diana, I thought of you when I saw the buzzards all flying around in the sky that day. I wish you could have been here to see them. They were flying over almost the whole park. It was amazing. Of course, that was a day I didn't bring the camera with me. :\
