Autumn Weekend

The leaves on our trees out front are mostly still all green, but the whirly-gigs are raining down like crazy from the maple trees, so it won't be long until the leaves on it turn yellow.

Some of my neighbors have color in their trees.  This one is in the yard behind ours.

This one is just a little way down the street from us.

And some of my neighbors need to get busy with their rakes and leaf blowers because their leaves are on the ground already.

The giant leaves in the park have already fallen too.  I put one on what is left of the stump of a tree that was cut down and also on a park bench to show how big they are.

There are a few trees in the park that still have their leaves on and are still pretty though.

I was walking at dusk on Saturday night and when I came around this bend in the road in the park, I thought the street light and the yellow leaves in the trees around it made the road seem almost to glow.  When I took a picture there, it looked like the street was paved in gold.

The next one I took just a little further around the bend.  It is a little blurry, but I think that just adds to the magic of it and made it have a more dreamlike quality.

Of course, as I so often have done, I took a picture of the sunset over the soccer fields as I headed on my way back home.  It was very peaceful and pretty.  I liked the way the trees and leaves silhouetted against the pink and purple colors.

All of your pictures are beautiful but those last three are really an awesome gift! I love walking in the leaves and kicking them with my feet this time of the year. Thanks so much for sharing your walk with us. Have a good week.

Daisy those "golden glow" pics are just fabulous. I love the first one.

Can't believe the size of those leaves! Glad they are not covering my yard.

Love the colors on the trees and especially the red leaves. Huge leaves. The streets of gold are like a postcard. Looks like a nice peaceful walk.

Thanks, Betsy! It's a lot of work clearing away the leaves, isn't it. I'd rather do that than shovel snow, though. HA! :D

Hi Mildred! I love to walk this time of year too. Those leaves are just made for scuffling and crunching through, I think. :)

Susie, I'm glad I don't have to rake leaves that big either. I have enough with just the little varities! :-)

Becca, thank you. I was surprised the way those gold pictures turned out. Although, it did look like it was kind of glowing there, the camera just really seemed to bring that aspect out. I really liked the way they came out. :D

oh, the red trees are my favorites!! i know you enjoy the fall as much as i do. if only we could fast forward to spring after it was done!

i especially like your turkey vulture photos from a previous post. what a thrill to see so many at once!i saw a documentary last night that said the vultures do 'dynamic soaring', not thermal soaring, as i had thought. the military is trying to duplicate the flight of the 'lowly' buzzard for its future aircraft. imagine that!

xo, graciel

Graciel, yes, I wouldn't mind skipping past the snow and ice and cold, at all! :D That is really interesting about the dynamic soaring and the military trying to copy it. I didn't know that!

Great set of pictures - love the big red one, and the glowing yellow street ;)

Hi Speedy! :-) It's such a pretty time of year, isn't it.

Yep, the inevitable leaf raking chore is upon us. That last picture is indeed surreal! You have "captured" quite a variety of leaves, large and small...

Daisy said...

Hi Ben! I think we'll be out raking this weekend here. It will be several weeks before they are all down from the trees, and we get them raked down to the street. Usually just in time for the first snowfall! :-)

So beautiful, Daisy! Love those big leaves!

Betty, I've been living in this town for 21 years now, and it never fails, every fall when those big leaves come down, I am amazed and fascinated by them all over again. :-)

Lovely photos. Lots of the trees here still have their leaves, and are slow to change colour.

Daisy said...

Hi Lynne! Thank you. We have the whole range here from some that are still completely green to some that have lost all of their leaves. I think the dry hot summer is the cause of some of it.

Daisy, from morn to dusk you bring such beauty in your pictures ... such moments of beauty & peace reflect.

Have a beautiful autumn eve ~

Hi Cassie! That red tree is one of the prettiest around this year.

Those whirlygigs are here everywhere right now. In the spring I'll be plucking and pulling the little maple seedlings out of the flowerbeds for days! HA! I don't know why they didn't grow for you, but maybe you're better off that way. Hugs to you. :-)

Hi Paige! Thank you. It is a pretty place. :)

Thank you, Brenda. I hope you have a wonderful weekend too! :)

I love crunching through leaves, don't you? And raking is a delightful occupation, as long as you wear shoes without laces. I hate when the rake catches my shoe lace! Ahem, I also dislike finding little doggy surprises underneath the leaves. :0/ Your photos are stunning. (as always!)

Daisy said...

Diana, I try to remember to wear velcro closing shoes when I rake for the same reason. I think this weekend will be spent with a rake in my hand. The leaves are really starting to fill up our yard here. I'm glad you liked the pictures. Thank you! I hope you have a wonderful weekend! :)

wow, look at that carpet of leaves. Love the photos. I love fall colors. I think we all must love them. I wonder why.. and the smell of pumpkin candles, and ginger bread...

I just wish our rain and clouds were lighten up and let the sun through.

Oh wow - these pictures are great!! That one of the road, the way looks gold, is just awesome!

Hi Sandy. I love your new profile picture! The colors of fall are so pretty, aren't they--all those warm reds and yellows and oranges. I hope the sun shines for you soon.

Hi Denise. I think I must have just been there at the right time. Hope you both have a great weekend! :)

Hi Daisy,
How beautiful the scenery in your area in the Autumn ..
I love to see the leaves falling down covered the road...
I can't imagine how busy people there to clean the falling leaves...hehe..

But it's just wonderful...
the natural part which can't seen in my own country.
Thanks for sharing here, Daisy!

Wish you the best,
nensa

Hi Nensa! We are quite busy cleaning up the leaves. You got that right. I'm sure I'll be out there with a rake quite a bit this weekend. It's work, but it is still such a pretty time. Happy weekend to you! :D
