Sunset Punch

Sunset Punch

Like the smoke of honeysuckle and lilacs,
the sunset settles over the sky,
fills it up, seeping from corner to corner,
curling and whirling
in the melted orange creamsicle clouds.
And the heavens above
are like the raspberry sherbet
that the PTA ladies swirl
on top of ginger ale or 7-Up
and,
for lack of a better name for it,
call it punch.

Ladle me up
another cup--
clear full.
Quick before it's gone!
I want to drink it up--
 sunset punch.

The photos in this post were all taken on my walk in the park last night within the span of 45 minutes.  It is amazing to me how much the skies and clouds can change in such a short amount of time and when viewed from different angles and perspectives.  The sunset views seemed to change around every bend of the path, each more beautiful than the last.

Hi Daisy,
Lovely to be back visiting you.
I'm also amazed at how quickly the sky can change. Like last night whilst out walking the dogs, one minute it was warm and hot, and after a couple of spots of rain, it ended up pouring down and us running for home in our shirt sleeves, ha, ha!
It's been lovely catching up with you. What lovely features in the new hospital, so thoughtful. It seems a calm environment. How lovely to meet a fellow blogger, a wonderful way to spend your lunchtime. Your son looks as though he is going to have a busy, but enjoyable summer.
Have a great weekend.

Hi Betty! Thank you! :)

Lynne, it's good to see you again. It is surprising how quickly the weather can change sometimes. :-)

Good morning, Mildred. :D Yes, it was relaxing to walk and enjoy the sunset.

Thank you, Betsy! I'm glad you liked my poem. :)

Happy weekend to you all!

Wow is all I can say about those clouds!! I happened to look outside last night during part of the sunset, too, and it was sooo gorgeous. I knew, though, I'd never get a decent picture of it with my camera. Yours are beautiful! Did you get a new camera? What were you using?? Those photos are worth enlarging and framing!!

Your writing is very unique, it seems to have "warmth" in the words, no matter what the subject. That says a lot about you I think ;-)

GREAT post Daisy !

Thank you, Becky. Yes, the new camera is one of those little Kodak share cameras. It's wasn't an expensive camera, but these pictures turned out fairly well. I'm glad you liked them. :)

Thank you, Speedy, for your kind words. Means a lot to me. I'm glad you liked this post. :-)

Such a beautiful sky and love your poem.. I like the phrase in the melted orange creamsickle sky...

Funny thing though at first I read orange chemical...
our skies look this way especially when we have forest fires around here.

Daisy said...

Hi Sandy! Orange chemical! Oh my! I hadn't thought of that. That puts a whole different spin on it. Thank you. I'm glad you liked my poem. :D

Beautiful sky! The other night we had quite a sky and Bet said that she wanted to jump up in it and hug it, rub it all over her face, lick it! Yes, indeed it looked that inviting!

Daisy said...

Hi Lanny! Yes, I can understand exactly what Bet was feeling. They can be so amazing. Hope you and your family have a good weekend! :)
